I have owned my navara since new 2003 and it WAS an absolute joy to drive for the first 18 months THEN.
The fuel sensor failed causing the turbo to go and the injectors had to be replaced as well.
Luckily that was under warranty but I still had to have a heated argument to get the injectors in on warranty.
That was at about 18,000 miles.
Then about 18 months later at about 50,000 miles I heard this almighty screeching while doing 70 on the M25 and managed to pull over.
I was one of the lucky one's and managed to catch it befor the engine done its usual trick of detonating like it has done in so many Navara's.
I have since had the engine rebuilt and after 4.000 miles the NEW genuine parts crank snapped on the No1 main.
After having the engine rebuilt AGAIN it has now developed an intermittant throttle idle problem which looks to me like the fuel sensor AGAIN.
The steering noise problem has always been there but then I have experienced a similar problem with other 4x4's.
I have seen so many posts with Navara owner's complaining about thier vehicles which I find sad because basicly the truck is great but the engine is a piece of shit.
My advice to anyone buying a Navara even the new d40 (they have the same engine you know)
DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ONE DOING A 100,000 MILES.
Which with todays technoligy is disgusting.
I would NEVER buy another NISSAN.
