freelander poor tick over

got a 55 td4 freelander. on tick over it is dropping revs(drops down then picks up again)power seems to have dropped and fuel consumption is higher than norm.it did break down 3 week ago,fuel pipe came off the filter(under rear o/s wheel type)and replaced these.have been told that the actual pump could be acting up,can anybody confirm this? cheers:)
