4x4web is often approached by the TV and radio for comments on different aspects of 4x4's. Recently I spend a time putting some thoughts together on 4x4's and fuel consumption. You might be interested to read them, possibly aggree or disagree. However the evironment is the collective responsibility of us all and it is far better for everybody to be doing their bit than a few extremists just sounding off. Whatever you drive, think fuel economy. See 4x4-Economy.

Welcome Hiclone, I know your product works because 4x4web tested it in our own 300tdi Defender. See Equipment Tests. We are now testing their Fuel Saving airfilter. This will take at least a thousand miles but so far it appears that the 4x4web 110 has exceeded the 30mpg figure overall.

John Beard has put together a lot of information about the trailer towing requirements for all drivers who passed a car test after 1 January 1997. I was not aware that what I could tow on my licence was far more than anybody who has passed their driving test in the last 8 years. If you tow a caravan, car trailer, larger boat trailer, horse box or aircraft then check this out. If you do need to get the new licence allowing you to tow the bigger trailers then John's company can help with the training to get you through the test.

To build on 4x4webs continuing growth this we have embarked on two new projects. The 4x4classifieds section is now available for other companies to embed into their own websites. This idea has already been taken up by Dingocroft, Forgetec4x4 and Mudplug. This not only increases the value of their sites to viewers but any paid for adverts placed via their sites will result in 20% commission. Note if the site is hosted by 4x4web then we do all the work in setting it up. The second project is to launch a 4x4 Gift Vouchers page. In the first instance this will simply be a free links page to all of our logolink clients that offer gift vouchers direct to the public. LRO Adventure Club to encourage owners of Land Rover products to participate in a variety of off-road events in a controlled environment, and to encourage the owners to utilise the full potential of their vehicle ensuring maximum adventure and fun with the minimum effort and hopefully no damage to the vehicle or themselves. Membership is free to subscribers of LRO International and offers various discounts on entry fees to certain events and some products. However any event we do is open to anyone.

Off in the 110 up to North Wales to visit our well established client Polybush. So whilst teaching them how to maintain their own web site and generally how web sites are designed to both be found by search engines and work rapidly the 4x4web 110 got treated to a set of "Comfort" black polybushes at a nearby garage. Well the result is a deffinate improvement in the feeling whilst driving over any bumps in the road. Well done Polybush.

Getting away in your 4x4 with Trailmasters International
I think that I have fancied a trip through the Atlas mountains of North Africa in my own 4x4 ever since I can remember. I am delighted to welcome Trailmasters International to 4x4web. They have gone for our combined advertising and hosting package at £20 per month plus VAT. Trailmasters is in my opinion the best known company offering North African Safaries with the right combination of unforgetable scenery, well equiped support vehicles and local expertise. Scam 1, Worldwide Somebody, usual in bad english, wants to buy your 4x4. Offers more than the asking price saying that you should send his shipping agent the balance and the vehicle once the cheque has cleared. Read all about it on the link from the top of 4 SALE page. Scam 2. A courtesy caller from a domain name company asking if you mind if a domain name like yours is sold to another interested party. They may say that company x wants the .net version of your .co.uk This is almost certainly a scam and the prices being asked are sometimes twice the price we sell domain names for. Hoax 1. The teddy bear scam. An email from a "friend" asking you to immediately check your disk for a file. If it's there then you have a virus that cannot be detected by Norton or McCaffee. Delete it immediately and empty your recycled bin. It is amazing how many people will destroy part of the windows operating system just because they receive an email telling them to. We have done 4 trips to Wales with Lee James 4x4. I have also used HLR Training on the Somerset Wiltshire borders to do a days training. The Jackall high lift that I bought from Dingocroft has been put to some good use.
The annual insurance renewal from Gary at 4x4insurance for the 12 seater came through, full business use at under £500! My other web sites continue to be successful and we now have clients in Australia, Turkey, Russia and UK. We are an authorized reseller for the Actinic shopping trolley and have over fifteen running now. The Links page provides a links to many relevant 4x4 sites. We offer full ISP services including web hosting, domain names, web design, shopping carts and secure pages. Web space can be made available very cheaply for 4x4 clubs and worthy 4x4 causes. It is usually not known that we also provide broadband and remote Spam and Anti Virus servives to many companies. Our speciallist niche is clients who want a personal service (ie not an overseas call centre) and are willing to pay a bit extra for that.
